Andrei Streliaev
Andrei Streliaev was born in Riga, Latvia. He holds a Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Toronto where he studied with John Tuttle, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from J.Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. This past spring he has also completed an Advanced Certificate Program in Harpsichord Performance at the University of Toronto. Andrei is also an Associate with the Royal Canadian College of Organists.
As pianist and organist Andrei has performed in Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Sweden and France, participated in festivals and competitions including B.Dvarionas International Competition for Young Pianists in Vilnius, Lithuania (Diploma) and Concours International de Piano Maryse Cheilan in Hyeres, France (First Award). Soon after moving to Canada in 2002 Andrei won 1st Prize in Organ Category of Canadian Music Competition and 2nd Prize at RCCO Toronto Centre Competition for Young organists.
Currently Andrei serves as assistant organist at St. Judes Anglican Church in Oakville, works as accompanist at the Faculty of Music of the University of Toronto and the Royal Academy of Dance. He has appeared in recitals in Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber Music Festival, Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, St. James Cathedral, St.John’s Lutheran Latvian Church and St.Andrew’s United Church in Markham. Andrei also enjoys performing with soloists and ensembles, and has performed with John Laing Singers, Exultate Chamber Singers, Toronto Masque Theatre, the University of Toronto Percussion Ensemble and McMillan Singers.
