Soprano Rachael Harwood-Jones has been praised by Opera Canada for her "gorgeous, lyrical, expressive voice" and "luminous stage presence and brilliant acting". She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto’s Opera Division where she studied with Mary Morrison and a Bachelor’s from the University of Manitoba under the tutelage of Tracy Dahl. She has appeared as Donna Elvira under the batons of Boris Brott and Agnes Grossman, Miss Silverpeal with Opera Jeunesse, several roles with the Opera Division, including Anna (The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro) and Hera in Chamber Opera West's world premiere of The Master's Stroke. In 2005, Miss Harwood-Jones debuted the role of Cecily in Victor Davies’ new operetta, The Importance of Being Earnest, at the Stratford Summer Music Festival. The 2006-07 season brought great success and critical acclaim for her performance as Venus in John Blow’s Venus and Adonis, with Toronto Masque Theatre. This season’s highlights include singing the titular role in The Merry Widow with Jeunesses Musicales du Canada in Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and Gilda (Rigoletto) with Brampton Lyric Opera.
