Mark Edwards
Mark Edwards began his studies in piano at the age of eleven, turning his attention to the pipe organ at sixteen. In 2004, he attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, studying organ with Thomas Bara and piano with Thomas Lymenstull, and received the Fine Arts Award for organ. He is currently studying organ with David Higgs at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he also studies organ improvisation and harpsichord with William Porter.
Mark is the winner of several festivals and competitions, recently taking first place in the 2008 Rodland scholarship competition, 2nd place in the 2006 Albert Schweitzer organ competition, and 2nd place in the 2007 American Guild of Organists (AGO) Region II competition for young organists. He enjoys an active life as a continuo player as well, studying with Paul O'Dette and Christel Thielmann at Eastman. Mark also serves as director of music and organist at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Rochester.
