David Troiano
David Troiano, Organist, lyric Tenor and Choral Conductor, continues to perform in his multifaceted musical career. As an Organist, he has appeared throughout the United States, Canada, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and in some of the great Sacred Spaces of Mexico, including LA BASILICA DE GUADElUPE in Mexico City. As a frequent recitalist in the Organ literature of the Spanish Baroque as well as the Spanish-Speaking World, he has presented lecture/recitals at AGO Regional Meetings; the International Symposium of Spanish and latin American Music in Tucson (Jan '09, '11) and scheduled to speak at the XI International Symposium of Spanish Keyboard Music in Spain (Oct. '10). Publications include a user-friendly guide to the Organ literature of the Spanish Baroque printed in the AGO Magazine (May '09). In May 2010, he debuted the World Premier of TAU, a work written for him by the Mexican Composer Armando Torres in Tlaxcala, Mexico. As part of the sooth Anniversary of the Spanish Composer Antonio Cabezon and the CABEZON PROJECT, he submitted three selections which can be heard from the FIMTE Website. Dr. Troiano earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Michigan where he studied Organ with the legendary Marilyn Mason, and Harpsichord with Edward Parmentier. He currently serves as Music Director for St. Clare of Montefalco Church in Grosse Pointe Park MI. He also collaborates annually with Finnish Violinist Tapani Yrjiola for concerts in the US and Europe.
As lyric Tenor, his voice has been heard in a substantial amount of roles in Opera, Oratorio, Orchestral Concerts, Operettas and Zarzuelas, and in over 80 American Art Song Recitals in collaboration with pianist Joseph Gurt. He has participated in the Festival of Spanish and latin American Music held in Barcelona ('06), and has made nearly 50 rarely-heard recordings of the music of Herbert, Sousa, and Kern with the Comic Opera Guild of Ann Arbor. He can also be heard in the Worl~ Premier Recording of Christmas Pastorale by Paul Paray. He earned a Master's Degree in Voice Performance from Wayne State University and has been an Adjunct Instructor at several Colleges in Detroit. He recently sang with the St. John's Choir of Warsaw Poland in their American Tour (Aug. '10) which included a cameo performance at the Marcella Sembrich Museum in Bolton landing, NY.
Conducting responsibilities have included all types of church and small ensembles, Community Theater Productions including several seasons at the Bonstelle Theater at WSU. He is currently in this 15th year as Choral Director for the International Symphony Singers of Port Huron and Sarnia, and the Choral Director for the Award winning Filarets Chorus, a Polish-language ensemble in the Detroit-area currently celebrating in 75th Anniversary.
