Ira Zingraff
Ira Zingraff grew up in Toronto. He graduated from Oakwood Collegiate Institute with honours in music. At Oakwood, he toured with the Orchestra to China, Denmark, and various North American destinations. In his graduating year, Ira Zingraff won the Oakwood Concerto Competition, which was toured through Denmark and the Netherlands.
He was accepted into the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music with a music scholarship, where he studied with Stephen Chenette. Mr. Zingraff continued his studies in Quebec, with two summers at Domaine Forget, under the study of Larry Knopp, Vincent Cichowicz, Geoffrey Thompson, and Trent Sanheim. He has performed in masterclasses with Vincent Cichowicz, Andrew McCandless, Thierry Caens, Manon Lafrance and the Canadian Brass.
In May 2004, Ira Zingraff graduated in Professional Studies at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Andrew McCandless and Jim Gardiner.
Currently he holds the positions of Principal Trumpet with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and The Canadian Sinfonietta. He also freelances throughout the greater Toronto area and teaches trumpet from his studio at home. Other orchestral credits include work with the Kitchener/Waterloo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Orchestra London, Hamilton Philharmonic, Toronto Philharmonia, Mississauga Philharmonic, and the Talisker Players.
