A lecture suitable for amateur, professional, church and concert organists.

This lecture is designed to be an introduction and overview of English music repertoire of the 19th and 20th Centuries. Through recordings and manuscripts, those in attendance will hear rarely performed works along with some more familiar repertoire from  ̶  Sir Hubert Parry (1848 – 1918), Sir Charles Stanford (1852 – 1924), Sir Edward Elgar (1857 – 1934), Edwin Lemare (1865 – 1934), Alfred Hollins (1865 – 1942), Sir Edward Bairstow (1874 – 1946), Healey Willan (1880 – 1968), Herbert Howells (1892 – 1983) and Percy Whitlock, (1903 – 1946). In addition to his own scholarship, Nigel Potts will offer recommended readings and recordings for further personal discovery.

“Nigel Potts is a consummate musician who knows how to communicate the essence of this music.”

“Instrument, music and performer combine to create musical magnificence not to be missed.”

The American Organist, December 2009
