Alan Jackson has been in the pipe organ trade for 60 years and a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists for a few years longer than that. Born in 1926, Alan is much interested in the preservation of historic organs. He can make a Casavant organ of any age work perfectly well. His own doctor doesn’t promise anything like that for him.
In 1965, Alan started a 3 year term on the Toronto Centre Executive and was Centre Chairman 1969 to 71, then on the National Executive until 1977 and 2 years as Publications Chairman. With his company, the Alan T Jackson Company, Alan has been representing Casavant Frères Ltd. in the Toronto area since the 1960’s. In 2001 Alan shared his wealth of knowledge in the writing of “Organs of Toronto”, a coffee-table style book featuring the pipe organs of Toronto and the architecture of the buildings these magnificent instruments resided in. This book was a project of love for the instrument and co-authored with current RCCO – Toronto Centre President, James Bailey.
