Michelle Chung is an accomplished pianist, organist, and piano teacher who is committed to spreading her passion and appreciation for music with all. She received training at the Royal Conservatory of Music and obtained the A.R.C.T in piano performance. She also received the Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. She is an active piano teacher with many of her students receiving recognition at the Peel Music Festival.
Growing up in the nurturing environment of her home church, she took interest in the organ and began studying the organ under the tutelage of Melvin J. Hurst, the Director of Music at Humbercrest United Church. In 2013, she was awarded the Barwell Scholarship from the R.C.C.O., and in 2017, she was chosen to perform in the R.C.C.O ”Bach Walk” to celebrate the composer’s birthday. Michelle became the recipient of the prestigious Kathleen Williams Scholarship in 2018 when she received the highest mark for the C.R.C.C.O diploma.
Michelle loves to share her talents with many churches. She is an accompanist for the Humbercrest United Church choir during their large choral performances. During the pandemic, Michelle was one of the selected performers in the 2021 Summer Concert Series presented by Humbercrest United Church, on YouTube. She has played for many churches, and currently, is serving the Streetsville United Church as an interim organist.
