Hanné Becker is a DMA Candidate in Organ Performance in the studio of Prof. Kevin Komisaruk at the University of Toronto. Her research currently focuses on the highly imaginative, virtuosic organ music of Matthias Weckmann (1616 – 1674) with a view to create and publish a new performers edition. Active as a performer and teacher, Hanné is grateful to pursue her deep love for sacred and early music. She is particularly drawn to the stylus phantasticus (free improvisatory) style of organ playing, as well as the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. In 2016 she graduat from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Basel, Switzerland) with a Master of Arts in Performance. She studied organ with Prof. Wolfgang Zerer (Hamburg), composition with Prof. Johannes Menke and harpsichord / basso continuo with Andrea Scherer. Hanné is a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto for both Musical Skills II and III. She has served in many liturgical roles during her musical career (as organist, soprano and choir accompanist). She has extensive choral background, having accompanied choirs and soloists both in Switzerland and in Canada.
