Welcome to Organix 13

This is Toronto's eighth annual festival featuring the thrilling sounds of the magnificent pipe organ, "The King of Instruments." Each spring ORGANIX presents the finest of entertainment from emerging artists. On a wider scale, ORGANIX is also known for its organizational and musical excellence featuring leading world-stage Canadian and International virtuosi organists. This year, there are nine opportunities to see and hear great repertoire performed by brilliant musicians on magnificent instruments. You will quickly discover why ORGANIX is Canada's most important annual organ festival.

This website is designed to give you a flavour of what you can expect at each event. This year the festival offers solo and collaborative performances between organists and other instrumentalists. Programming of material that is written with other instruments in mind is a wonderful way to experience the depth and breadth of repertoire that you would not normally hear. Duo performances include Thomas Fitches and Guitarist Mariette Stephenson, Mélanie Barney and Violist Tina Louise Cayouette, Chelsea Chen and Violinist Lewis Wong, and Rachel Mahon and fellow organist Sarah Svendsen in their four hands duo called ORGANIZED CRIME. Then there is the trio of Wayne Carroll and Cellist Samuel Bisson with Violinist Alexa Wilks. The solo performances will be from world renowned Jane Parker Smith from the UK, American theatre Organist Mark Herman and a very popular organist around town, Ryan Jackson. If you don't want to come downtown, then don't! For the first time, we are also going uptown to discover the tonal richness of the organs at St. Clement's Anglican Church and Lawrence Park Community Church. If you are already downtown, then make your way uptown to just a bit north of Eglinton Avenue. It will be exciting and well worth hearing some spectacular concerts in new ORGANIX venues.

Whether you wish to stay downtown, uptown or take in every concert, make it a goal of yours to attend multiple concerts and get your tickets or passes early. Consider building your own Festival Pass with the concerts you want to go to most. A Pass will also make a great gift for a friend, teacher, student, family member, doctor or even clergy! A cost effective ORGANIX Festival Pass makes a great gift for any occasion. On a business note, if you have an enterprise, then perhaps you might also consider placing an ad in the ORGANIX program book. In doing so, you help sustain the festival and show your support for its success.

ORGANIX is a festival unlike any other. I look forward to welcoming you in person at each of the concerts. Enjoy ORGANIX 13 and do tell your friends!

Musically yours,
Gordon D. Mansell
Executive Producer & Artistic Director
