Eric Osborne

Eric Osborne, is a freelance musician based in Stratford, Ontario. A graduate of the University of Toronto with degrees in sacred music and a holder of the Associateship diploma of the American Guild of organists, Eric is passionate about all forms of sacred music, in particular congregational song and the Anglican/Episcopal choral tradition and how they can shape music traditions in the twenty-first century. Eric has worked in churches in Ontario, New York, and Alabama. An award-winning composer, he has written several anthems, hymn tunes and music for the Anglican liturgy, as well as the score for productions of Shakespeare’s Pericles, and other theatrical works. While a student at the University of Toronto, he was the first Bevan Organ Scholar at Trinity College and the Healey Willan Organ Scholar at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. Eric has performed recitals across Canada, and in the USA and United Kingdom. He has recorded three CDs featuring historical organs of Southwestern Ontario. A writer, Eric has written scholarly articles on Fanny Crosby, and is currently working on a project of Irish composer, Ina Boyle’s sacred choral works. He has written two books, one about international Christmas carols and a second on the evolution of the Anglican choral tradition during the Reformation. In his spare time, he loves to walk, cook, garden and read.
